Q: How do I verify that a VA claims agent is really accredited?

Search the VA Office of General Counsel accreditation database at va.gov/ogc/apps/accreditation. Enter the agent or attorney's name; if they are accredited, the record shows their status, accreditation date, and state. If a person is not listed there, they are not authorized to represent veterans for a fee before the VA under 38 CFR § 14.629.
