    How do I verify that a VA claims agent is really accredited?

    Details

    • The OGC search covers three roles: VA-accredited attorneys, VA-accredited claims agents, and VSO representatives.
    • 'Coach', 'consultant', 'benefits advocate', and similar titles do NOT appear in the database and are not authorized to charge for VA claim work.
    • Charging a veteran for VA claim assistance without accreditation is a federal violation. See 38 CFR § 14.629 and 38 USC § 5904.
