    Details

    • 'Aid and attendance' means needing help with bathing, dressing, feeding, toileting, or protecting against daily hazards.
    • Housebound (SMC-S) is a lower tier and easier to reach when the veteran is confined to the home due to service-connected conditions.
    • SMC has 11 base levels (K through S) plus higher intermediate levels — several conditions can stack.
