    Major Installations

Florida is home to roughly 1.4 million veterans — one of the largest veteran populations in the country. Whether you served at a Florida-based installation, deployed from one, or simply settled here after separation, your VA disability claim is governed by federal law and adjudicated under the same rules as every other state.

Oakridge Claims is a VA-Accredited Claims Agent practice. Federal accreditation under 38 CFR § 14.629 authorizes representation of veterans in all 50 states. Florida veterans are served remotely via secure video conferencing, phone, and encrypted document exchange — the same way most accredited representation operates today.

    Florida State-Level Veteran Benefits

These are state-administered benefits — separate from your federal VA disability compensation. Many require a federal VA disability rating as a prerequisite, which is where claims agent representation can help.

    Homestead Property Tax Exemption

Florida grants a full homestead ad valorem tax exemption to veterans rated 100% permanently and totally disabled from a service-connected condition under Florida Statute §196.081, and partial exemptions for partial ratings under §196.082.

    No State Income Tax

Florida does not levy a state income tax — VA disability compensation, military retirement, and Social Security are not taxed at the state level.

    Education — State Tuition Waiver

Children and spouses of certain disabled or deceased Florida veterans may qualify for tuition waivers at Florida public universities and colleges under Section 295.01, F.S.

    Disabled Veteran License Plates

Service-connected disabled veterans qualify for specialty plates and parking privileges; 100% rated veterans may receive plates at no cost.

Common Claim Themes for Florida Veterans

    • Burn pit exposure claims from veterans deployed through MacDill (USCENTCOM)
    • Aviation/jet noise hearing loss claims (NAS Pensacola, NAS Jacksonville, Eglin, Tyndall)
    • Heat-related and skin-condition claims from extended Florida-based service
    • Polytrauma and TBI follow-up care concentrated at Tampa's Haley VA

VA disability help by city in Florida

VA decision review is federal and identical everywhere. If you already have a rating decision, one of these three lanes applies. Which one fits depends on the evidence in your file — not on where you live.

No outcome is promised or implied. Nothing here is legal advice, and representation begins only after a signed fee agreement and VA Form 21-22a.

    Frequently asked — Florida veterans

Do you represent veterans in Florida?
Yes. As a VA-Accredited Claims Agent, representation is authorized in all 50 states. Veterans throughout Florida are served remotely via secure video, phone, and document upload.
Which VA Regional Office processes Florida claims?
Most Florida VA disability claims are processed through the St. Petersburg VA Regional Office. The VA's centralized claims processing means your assigned RO is largely procedural — accreditation rules and outcomes apply uniformly nationwide.
