Q: What VA burial benefits are available?

VA provides burial benefits including interment in a national cemetery, a headstone or marker, a burial flag, a Presidential Memorial Certificate, and — for eligible veterans — a burial allowance under 38 CFR § 3.1600 (higher for service-connected deaths). Surviving spouses and dependent children may also be buried in a national cemetery with the veteran.

There is no cost for the gravesite, opening/closing, headstone, or perpetual care in a national cemetery.
File VA Form 21P-530EZ for burial allowance within two years of burial for non-service-connected deaths.
Pre-need eligibility determinations are available via VA Form 40-10007.
