Q: How do I write a VA buddy statement?

A buddy statement (VA Form 21-10210, Lay/Witness Statement) is a first-person account from someone with direct knowledge of an event or symptom. Include who you are, your relationship to the veteran, what you personally observed, when and where it happened, and sign under penalty of perjury. Buddy statements are competent evidence for facts a layperson can observe (falls, exposures, symptom onset) under 38 CFR § 3.159.
