    • Schedular ratings, including 100% schedular, do not restrict employment.
    • TDIU under 38 CFR § 4.16 is based on inability to secure or follow substantially gainful occupation.
    • Marginal employment — earnings at or below the federal poverty threshold for one person, or work in a protected environment such as a family business — does not defeat TDIU.
    • VA periodically verifies employment for TDIU recipients using VA Form 21-4140 or income matching.
